The Puppet Theater is a type of puppet theater, whose protagonists are Charlemagne and his paladins. The deeds of these characters are treated through the reworking of the material contained in the novels and poems of the Carolingian cycle, of the history of the Paladins of France and of the Orlando furioso. The puppets are precisely called puppets (from the Latin “pupus” which means child). The work is typical of the Sicilian tradition, there is already news in the eighteenth century.

The puppet opera in the form we know today developed at the end of the 1700s, with pupils in pageboys (unarmed) who represented some Sicilian stories; of these works only the farces that are still represented, in any case these little ones, have come to us paladins represent one of the most eclectic elements and recognizable of Sicily in the whole world!
